Labor Mate - contraction timer App Reviews

My wife and I used this app just this morning to assist in the delivery of our baby girl. It was great to measure the contractions and then send the data to our midwife. I would only recommend that an "Are you sure?" is added before deleting your data. Job well done!

We used this application for the homebirth of our first son. And plan to use it again with the birth of our second (also at home). It exceeded our expectations in both function and versatility. Easy to use, helpful to email to my doula/midwife, and a meaningful souvenir from my labor experience! Great organized keepsake, told its own story. I have no complaints about the application itself. However its description includes only hospital birth usage, and seems unaware that a growing number of people are using this app with midwives, at birth centers and at homebirths. Youd get style points for having a more inclusive description of births!

This works great for false labor; I used it every night for a week - sometimes for three hours at a time and I thought it would be neat to mail the info to our midwife. However, when my labor actually started and my water broke two days ago, I thought of this AP and how it would be the last thing Id do @ 3 min apart & how my review might say: if youre using this, it is false labor...

This timer worked fine for us, but I have to ask - does the timer really need 1/10th of a second? We are not timing F1. It just detracts from the clarity of the data and adds an odd sense of urgency!

Searching through labor/contraction apps reveals that none are super strong. For example, why dont any if them allow syncing between devices or the web so that partners can share and input data. However, this app has a nice UI and seems very strong. It should prove useful during our pending labor. Nice job!

This app worked great during my labor. I was thinking of using a stop watch but decided to buy this app. Im glad I did. It helped me And the babys dad out a lot. And now we have a beautiful baby boy. =)

This is one of those apps that is brillant and useful

Maybe not the slickest looking app for counting contractions, but we didnt want to risk crashing or accidentally losing data - we just wanted a reliable app that would work under pressure. I just used this app during my wifes labor and it worked like a charm. It was so easy that she could learn to use it while she was actually in labor (and shes not even an iPhone user, so it was all completely new to her). Nice, thought out features like being able to delete a contraction (if its a false alarm). Just does what its supposed to without any bells and whistles; Id recommend it without hesitation.

We only used this app once (for the birth of our daughter) but it was really helpful! Great way to calculate and keep track of contractions.

This seems to be the best app Ive found for timing contractions and tracking symptoms. There is a glitch on the symbols in the calendar, however. Every time I exit the app, the symbols reset to default. Waiting to here back from the developer on the glitch. Otherwise great app.

Cannot even get this to start & have emailed with the company but no fix yet. I wouldnt buy it until they explicitly say theres a fix. I cant even get a refund thus far...

This is a great app. Most of the issues in prior reviews seem to have been addressed. More important, this is the only app Ive found that measures frequency (the time between contractions) correctly. Frequency is supposed to be measured between the START of the first contraction and the start of the next. Labor Mate gets it right. BEWARE - most other counters measure frequency from the END of the first contraction and the start of the next. This is wrong and could be dangerous - it might cause you to go to the hospital too late. Good job Labor Mate for getting it right! Would be nice to be able to chart contractions and email the data - maybe in a future update. Overall a great app.

Worked great with my iPhone. As a first time mom, I did not have a clue how to count contractions. This app was very helpful and it documented all the info. I was able to tell my doctor exactly how far apart my contractions were while I was at home. I did not have to waste a trip to the hospital.

Used it a few times when we thought baby was coming and it worked great. On the actual night the baby was coming it malfunctioned. Id hit start and the time wouldnt move. Hit stop and it would record the interval but not the duration. One star for failing when it was needed.

Im a midwife and have used labor mate at many births, Ive never had any problems with it. It makes timing the contractions easy peasy.

Being able to not have to worry about keeping accurate track of the contractions was fantastic. However, when helping a woman in labour, mistakes can happen. Not being able to edit the data seems to be a glaring omission and throws the summery of contractions way off. I emailed the support team and to their credit they mailed me back very promptly. I was thanked for my input but not told if it would be implemented. So while this app is simple, easy and useful I cannot recommend you purchase it until this issue is fixed.
